Problem:

My chiller stopped cooling or turning on. Now what?

Solution:

Does the light come on? Can you hear the fan running? Yes, means we have power established.

Next check air flow. The intake filter is tucked under the unit; is it blocked by a napkin or loose debris? Is the filter clean? The warm exhaust air is dispelled though the back. Is there enough room around the unit to operate? Does the unit operate in an especially warm area? Perhaps near a fryer?

If proper air flow is established, the last thing to check is food temperature. The unit is designed to maintain temperature of chilled product (about 38-40 degrees F); it won't take ambient product down to safe serving temperatures.

Problem:

Why is the dome popping off the pump housing?

Solution:

To avoid this headache in the future, it's good to know this is typically a simple fix. A little process fine tuning and we can put this behind us.

Checking for proper dome installation is done by observing the edges where it meets the pump housing. If all the lines around the dome edges are within the pump housing, it was installed correctly. Many times operators think the dome is installed completely because it seems "snug", yet a few of the dome edge lines are still visible from the side.

Lastly, it's possible some residual product may be causing pressure build up and a good cleaning will solve the problem; disassemble fully, thoroughly clean and air dry before setup again.

Problem:

Why is my Solution pump dripping product?

Solution:

Solution pumps come with (3) discharge fittings with varying opening sizes. Thick products work with the largest opening and thin the smallest. If your product is dripping, it may need the next smaller opening from what is installed. Too hard to push? Use the discharge fitting with a larger opening.

Problem:

How do I stop this pump from dripping?

Solution:

To take care of this mess maker, check the seals and o-rings. If they look worn with tiny cracks or are misshapen, it's a good time for replacement.

Problem:

My EZ-Topper stopped heating, turning on or is tripping the breaker. What could it be?

Solution:

First and foremost, is the outlet getting power? Do you have too many things plugged into the same outlet or circuit? Check operation in another outlet.

Earlier models with the thermostat on the bottom can sometimes have enough debris/dust build up to cause the unit to not heat. To dislodge the debris, remove the set screw and plate and then turn the thermostat dial back and forth 8-10 times. Put the plate and set screw back and try the unit again.

Did the unit accidentally get wet or submerged? Save yourself the freight costs and let it fully dry out before sending it in for repair. We have had units returned for repair and with a few days of dry time/transit they started working again.

Problem:

Why is my Solution  pump difficult to push down to pump?

Solution:

Solution pumps come with (3) discharge fittings with varying opening sizes. Thick products work with the largest opening and thin the smallest. If it's too hard to push, you may need the discharge fitting with the next larger opening.

Problem:

Why is my pump hard to push down for dispensing?

Solution:

This type of symptom was typically seen in Brazed Style (valve bodies) pumps manufactured prior to 1993. Well done on your pump maintenance, if yours is of that age. Our advice is to make sure the ball is resting on the inner valve assembly inside the cage. If that is correctly placed, also ensure the inner valve handle is on the catch.

Problem:

Why does my Express pump dispense a little or no product?

Solution:

When this happens, the first place to look is under the lid to see if the product pouch is empty. With the lid in hand, you're able to confirm if the roller is installed onto the lever. If those two things looks good, deeper investigation is necessary.

Gently remove the pump and attached pouch from the vessel. Check to make sure the pump dome is installed completely - that means all the lines around the dome edges are within the pump housing. If all your moving parts look good, it's time to check the connection of the pump to the pouch.

Is the pouch fully pierced? A good way to be sure is to push the pump connecter piece further into the pouch fitment. If you hear a snap or click, it's in place now and you should be back in business.

Problem:

Why does my Solution pump dispense only a little or no product?

Solution:

When this happens on a Solution pump, the first place to look is within the pump assembly. With the pump apart, check if the ball valves and seal are properly installed. Ball valves must be facing downward.

Our trick to remembering this is to say, in your mom's voice, "Put the BALL DOWN!". My bet is you won't forget it, no matter how hard you try.

Problem:

Why does my pump dispense only a little or no product (under dispense)?

Solution:

The next time your pump is apart for cleaning, check all seals and o-rings for wear or damage. Over time they develop tiny cracks and need to be replaced. Further investigation depends on what style (age) your pump is…

For a Cast Valve with Captured Balls (1999 to present)
Make sure the balls move freely when cleaning.

A Cast Valve with Loose Balls (1993 - 1999)
Make sure the balls are in the proper place; one in the inlet port of the valve body and the other in the discharge port.

For Brazed Valve Bodies (prior to 1993)
Make sure a ball is installed beneath the ball-retaining pin, the retaining pin is in place and a ball is resting on the inner valve assembly under the cage.

Problem:

Why is product oozing out around or under the locking collar?

Solution:

First make sure that the seal is firmly installed on the piston and stem assembly, with the flare side of the seal facing down. If the seal was installed properly, it likely needs replacing.

Problem:

Why doesn't this lid fit properly? Is it bent or misshapen? What happened to it?

Solution:

First check to see if the dome is installed properly (see Dome Pops Off). If it's not the dome, the culprit tends to be the condiment bag within; it typically occurs with a new/full bag. An air gap may be preventing it from siting fully within the base with adequate room for the roller to make a proper connection with the pump dome.

Here's what I've done... Taking care not to separate the pouch from the pump, smooth out or reseat how the pouch rests in the bottom of the vessel and try installing the lid again.

Problem:

Why isn't my Solution pump returning to the start position after dispensing?

Solution:

If the plunger is not returning to start position after dispensing, it may likely be a broken spring. The spring is a replacement piece that will eventually wear out and break.

Sometimes how the pump is assembled can cause it to "lock-up" somewhat. During assembly, compress the pump and spring, while aligning flats on piston with the flats inside the cylinder. Another tip is the locking collar should be installed with the pump compressed.

Problem:

Why isn't my pump returning to the top after dispensing?

Solution:

Known to insiders as a plunger problem, it's typically either a missing washer or a broken/missing spring.

The washer is necessary to compress the spring, so if it's missing, your plunger will not return. A well-used spring can become worn out or broken. The spring is also necessary for pump operation. Now you can call yourself an insider too.

Your pump Model and Part number are stamped on the lid. With that information, a parts breakdown will determine replacement part numbers.

Problem:Why doesn't the plunger on my pump return to the starting position?Solution:

Most plunger problems are due to either a missing washer or a broken/missing spring.

The washer is necessary to compress the spring. If this piece is missing, your plunger will not return. To order a washer, reference part number 82015. A well-used spring can become worn out or broken. When this happens, you may notice the plunger does not return as it should. Please check your owner's manual, or contact us, for the part number you will need to reference in ordering your replacement part.
Problem:

The stand isn't high enough, how can I use this to fill squeeze bottles?

Solution:

Fill Tall ContainersThe upper platform can be repositioned for more room below the faucet. Lift the upper platform off of the legs. Rotate platform position onto other legs to give the spout more clearance over a counter edge.

Problem:

The faucet drips or dispenses only a little or nothing when pushed. What could be wrong?

Solution:

Faucet is DrippingThe faucet is simply a valve and is the area to investigate.

  1. Ensure the faucet connector is threaded correctly to the vessel threads to creat a tight seal.
  2. Ensure the lever inside the faucet is placed correctly withing the silicone insert.
  3. Check the valve itself. A particle of food, even as small as a seed, could be lodged inside the silicone valve and cause the faucet to leak slightly.
Problem:

My unit stopped heating, turning on or is tripping the breaker. What could be wrong?

Solution:

Quickly double-check, is the outlet getting power? Do you have too many things plugged into the same outlet or circuit?
Check operation in another outlet.

Did the unit accidentally get wet or submerged?
Save yourself the freight fees and let it fully dry out before sending it in for repair. We have had units returned for repair and with a few days of dry time/transit they started working again.

Has any food waste come in contact with the thermostat?
This can cause the unit to stop heating.

Do you use the unit as a water-bath?
Using treated or softened water and air drying during non-use is a great way to extend the life of the water vessel; prevents water from leaking through a corroded pinhole onto the electrics within.

Is descaling part of your scheduled maintenance?
Over time, lime scale can build up on the unit and cause it to stop working.

Problem:What does your warranty cover?Solution:

Server Products equipment is backed by a 2-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects (material or workmanship). Missing/lost or worn out parts are not covered under our warranty.
